چکیده

Introduction A subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (S-ICD) is now being used as an alternative to a transvenous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (TV-ICD). Because the location of the device in the body differs between S-ICD and TV-ICD, ICD-related complications need to be managed in a device-specific manner. Therefore, therapeutic strategies for infected wounds may differ between patients with S-ICD and those with TV-ICD.

Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator in a patient with dextrocardia situs inversus

Background: Dextrocardia is a congenital anomaly, which may have coexistent coronary artery disease (CAD), arrhythmias and conventional indications for device therapy. However, the implantation of transvenous leads can be technically challenging and the approach needs to be tailored to the patient's individual anatomy. Case presentation: A 54-year-old male with dextrocardia situs inversus and i...

Management of a Remnant Electrode in a Patient With Cardioverter-Defibrillator Infection After Refusal of Intravascular Electrode Removal

Treatments of choice for cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) infections are the removal of the entire CIED system, control of infection, and new device implantation. Occasionally, a complete CIED removal can not be performed for several reasons, such as very old age, severe comobidity, limited life expectancy, or refusal by a patient. We encountered a male patient who developed traumat...

Subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator placement in a patient with a preexisting transvenous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator

Introduction The subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (S-ICD) is a safe and effective treatment for prevention of sudden cardiac death. It is typically not used in patients who require additional therapies conferred by transvenous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (TV-ICD) systems, such as bradycardia pacing or antitachycardia pacing (ATP) for ventricular tachycardia (VT). D...
